All I want for christmas

While the title is reminiscent of Mariah Carey's song by the same title, get that out of your mind! The yeah yeah yeahs have released a new Christmas track on their myspace page. This song is so darling. I thought i was completely jaded to Christmas, viewing it as a consumer frenzy of which all sentimentality has decimated . However, this track did manage to break my shell a bit :) Karen O coos "fa la la la la la"s to sleigh bells and shivery guitar. It's magical. She chants"My only Christmas wish is for you to be here,"... and i believe her!

Check this song out! You'll be glad you did!

PS. I'm going to take a breather until the New Year guys! Hopefully i'll be returning with a new banner and some followers! Till then....

Happy Holidays Folks!!!!!

womanizer

Not only is Lily Allen Back on the scene with her new single 'fever', she owning the scene!

Lily Allen is a Cover song Queen. I remember falling in love with her after hearing her cover the Kooks "native". She made the song sound oh so sweet, and queered up the song a bit .. which is always a good way to get gay chicks to dig your stuff lol.

Her latest Genious Cover is her rendition of Britney Spears' 'womanizer' Mixed by Mark Ronson. These to make a great team! ...... this track is So good! Here is the link.

I love This WOman!

Janelle Monae has been on my list as one of my favorite independent artist as of recent, however, it just came to my knowledge that she was just signed by Sean combs..... good luck to her! This is really exciting and i wish her all the best! (even if diddy doesn't exactly have the best track record for making #1 bands, i hope JM is his first #1)

This girl is as beautiful as she is talented and unique! She has this whole vision for her album in which she creates an alternate universe full of cyborgs who aren't allowed to love. The title of the Album is MEtropolis, and on it she plays the role of Cindy Mayweather, a one of a kind cyborg who dares to go against the grain and dares to feel, to love, and to be free. It's awesome! Check it out ya'll, it's only 5 bucks at best buy!

the following is an interview with her. Followed by the first video i had seen her in. (it blew me away)

ps i just found this. This is the video for her latest single 'Many Moons'. (this chick is such a good dancer!)

Pink on Pink

So I've pretty mush been a pink fan for a little more than half my life. That's pretty intense. However, despite my age and the fact that i am two decades old, Pink manages to make it hotter and fiercer every time. Her new video for "sober" is a prime example.

If u thought one pink was hot get a load of this video in which pink has a love scene with herself! There is lip biting and all that good shit lol.

gah ...if i had a penis i swear it would be erect right now.

Prop 8 The musical

This is sooo good, and perfectly timed. I'm working on a piece for a theater class that addresses the time of institutionalized homophobia.

my mind is karaoke machine

Last night my dreams didn't have a plot, instead i heard this song on repeat all night. Has that ever happened to you? I literally woke up singing this song. It's night time now and it' still fresh on my brain.... with all that said now I'm going to pawn it off on you guys!

The song is called 'Camp Out' by An Horse. I heard the song for the first time at a Tegan and Sara show. An Horse was the opening act. Heh, i just realized ... maybe i was "dreaming" of this song last night cause it sorta pertinent to my life , i just went through a break-up, but i do sorta just "wanna fuck around" ... anywhoo :/

where did the fucking time go?

i know this is supposed to be about music... but it sorta is.

I was reading Emily Haines' letter to the fans on metric's website and she posed the question.... "where did the time go?"... this video struck me as the perfect source of reference. Is technology really taking over our lives?

2009, a promising year!

Heh, so being the obsessive fan that I am, there are several music announcements that have went down in the past few months that have made me soooo excited for the new year to come. First in line is Metric! Their one of my favorite bands out of Canada (most of my favs are from outside of the us :( ) They will be releasing anew album early next year, and in a few weeks they will embark on a tour of Canada. I'm jealous of all the can bags who can actually go.
For those of you who are interested here's a video of their new single " help, i'm alive"

They don't sound very different musically, but Emily Haines has made claims to have done some of the best song writing of her career for this album. I think she's a brilliant lyricists and I'm excited to hear what she's laid down.

Here's a video interview that adds some perspective to the future album.
Note* the cinematography is really impressive.

Metric is one of my personal favorites for several reasons. They were the first live show i was allowed to go to alone! and in seeing this show i was opened to a whole new world. The show opened my eyes to the fact that i swung both ways. I was in the audience and all i could think for the whole concert is how beautiful i thought Emily Haines was. I got hyper- excited when she did her cute little dances , and of all my friends i was the most delighted by Metric's preformace.

oh to be 15 again!

Second band that i learned was putting out a new one is The yeah yeah yeahs. HELLL FUCKIN' YEAH! They posted the news to their blog. check it out for yourself here!
The yeah yeah yeahs were my first live show. I caught them for the first time at a free outdoor concert in New York's Central Park. Need i say, they were HOT! karen O rocked the stage like nothing i had ever seen. She was wearing a rainbow leotard and a white trash bag.. which she riped off half way through her set.... so bad ass...i wanted to be her when i grew up... i still do...lol

a reference pic .. for those who are reading and live under a rock.

Next band that I'm way excited to here from next year is The Gossip. Yes, and not deviating from the trend: yes, i have seen them live. But no, no i did not fall in love with the lead singer at first sight. My crush on this leading lady took a little long to develop lol. Beth Ditto is the shit and i can't wait to hear what she and the gossip come up with . I really like their raw drum and bass roots , but i'm sure that they are evolving and their new album will follow the same path as their last album.

The last band, and probably the band that i'm most obsessed with is Tegan and Sara. Yesterday they just announced vis their myspace blog that they were beginning the recording process for a new album . Not only that but the twin cuties are working on a book that will be publish next year. That's hella exciting because they both are excellent writers. If you don't believe me see for yourself! The twins have blogged on the theme of "Laugh, Rage, Cry" and have proved to their fans that they are deeper than their cute voices and faces let on.
